The Star-Sew-Bright Story
My earliest memories of sewing are the many summers I spent creating clothes for my Barbie doll collection by hand. Before I started school, and could even read or write, I was able to pick up a needle and thread and create a masterpiece....in my eyes that is!. I would swap fabrics with my friends from our personal collection of scraps.....leftovers from all our Mothers' sewing projects. To this day I have always kept a container of scraps handy for my little one's to play with while I stitched away.
I have taken my love and passion for sewing and carried it with me all my life; it has remained a part of who I am throughout the years. My commitment to creating quality handmade items has never wavered. I would save money by making those special holiday dresses and accessories that every little girl loves to wear for my daughters. As the years passed and they grew older it evolved into special dresses for dances or outfits for school to help stretch their allowance money so they could still have all the latest styles.
My littlest guy was a different twist, he didn't need cute dresses or hair bows, but fun prints to add brightness to his day were lacking in store bought items. The selection was limited to sports themes or teddy bears, I wanted something fun and bright, after all, isn't that what childhood should be all about? I was inspired and wanted to create a bright and inviting environment to surround him throughout his day.....incorporating lots of colors and fun prints in the process!
My mission began with a completely coordinated nursery set from crib bumpers to diaper stackers, my objective was he would have a room made with him in mind. The colors and prints then naturally crept into other areas of his day and the initial creation of our signature bibs using bright whimsical prints was born. The bibs were sized to protect his outfits while giving him something fun to look at while nibbling on a snack or waiting for his meal to be prepared. My theory is...meal time should be fun!
Over the years I had stitched many gifts for friends and family.....with lots of comments about "why wasn't I doing this for a living???" One day I finally stopped fighting those voices and really listened to what I had been hearing for many years...and so began Star-Sew-Bright Creations! My goal is to remain a full-time Mom while still living out my dreams and sharing my love of sewing with all those who come in contact with my products. Each item I create is stitched as if it were for my own family.
I take great pride in the products I create and offer superior hand-made items all made right here in Maine. I am a member of the United Maine Craftsmen and the American Sewing Guild. I have taught sewing and quilting classes over the years to both adults and children. I also perform specialty sewing services for some of my clients in the creation of their own unique product lines.
A special thank you to my husband for believing in me & in my dreams! Without his positive support none of this would have been possible to achieve. And a big thanks to my friends and family who have cheered me on along the way!
Thank you for visiting my site! I hope you visit again soon...
